This is kind of scary. I've actually got a Storkcraft crib made in 1997 that was given to us by my sister once her youngest outgrew it. It's in excellent shape and all the drop side hardware is metal, not plastic so I really don't want to spend the money on a new one but I'm pretty paranoid so we may end up getting a new one anyways.

I would never recommend Storkcraft. In 1975 they had problems with mattresses not fitting properly. You'd think they could produce consistent safe cribs after being in the business so long.

I wouldn't ever buy a drop-down crib in the first place....but that's just me. I'm only 5 ft. tall, but I'd rather have to lean over the side with my feet off the floor than risk all of the issues that those things are infamously known for.
