Default doggie day care/boarding

Ugh, I just left Oakley for his "interview" at doggie day care...he gets to go free all day, so I figured I'd take advantage & leave him there...

He hates it so much though...I brought him in & forgot some paperwork in my car, so I handed his leash to the nice lady to go run & grab it...when I come back (like 10 secs later) Oakley is like pulling the poor woman, whining & freaking out cause I left him

She then showed me around...the place is alright... i didn't have much choice cause EVERYTHING was booked over thanksgiving (I only very recently found out I had to board him)...so its gonna have to do...

We left him in the play area to discuss his paperwork & I could hear him scratching & barking at the door the whole time...I'm pretty sure the woman thought I was crazy cause I was like telling her every detail about him & exactly how to handle him, blah blah....

Ugh, Now i can't do work like I planned cause I am just so worried about him!!! I feel like a horrible mom.

Poor Oakley. Hopefully he settles down and has fun. Are there cameras so you can watch to see how he's doing?

Bailey likes daycare a lot -- but, if I'm there, he usually wants to be with me.

No freaking out allowed!! For some dogs it can take them a long while to settle in. A couple of days at least. I have a sheltie that screams and cries and pulls towards her mother every single time her mom drops her off, acting as though we beat the crap out of her. But the second her mom is out of sight she immediately pulls the other way TOWARDS the rooms and plays like a maniac until she is picked up. So don't panic

The first time I had to leave Zoe at Pet Camp, I cried all the way home. It's never easy, but it does get easier.

I always leave pages and pages of notes for the sitter and am so upset when I leave the dogs... they are always very happy and healthy when I get home!

This is way harder on you!

aw, im sure he'll be ok after he gets used to it. my parents had to put their doberman in a pet day care/boarding place a few times when traveling and he hated it the first time and then loved it every time after that. From crying like a baby he ended up being the staff favorite. We always felt super bad leaving him, but it just takes some time. good luck!

I would just like to add, that even though I have worked in this business for . . . well forever it seems . . . I'm almost more neurotic than most of my clientele put together! I left Isis boarding here last weekend while I was at the agility trial and I called 3 times a day, in addition to leaving insane specific notes, LOADS of extra blankies, and just generally freaking out. I think my staff was ready to kill me. LMAO!

haha... well then I guess you cant complain about the crazy clients,

I used to call my sitter EVERY single day, sometimes more than once, while I was gone... then I started feeling bad... so now I force myself to only call every other day... I KNOW that if there is a problem she will call me, she has called before for the smallest thing. Even when I call I feel bad knowing I am bothering her but I just cant help myself,

thanks guys...

apparently he took awhile to settle in....they put him in the group of the calmer dogs (like I asked, hehe), and he did fine though. The woman was like "he is quite the humper though...." oooops, I forgot to disclose that fun fact!!!

hopefully this will help him get adjusted faster when I have to leave him next week!
