Default Pet Insurance?

Anyone else have their dog (or other pets) insured?

I just got pet insurance for Batman earlier this year because a friend recommended I do since he was a puppy, and puppies tend to be get sick easier and rack up some bills. I ended up signing up with Trupanion pet Insurance and they've been great. I chose my own deductible, they pay 90% of the bill, and they cover hereditary problems! awesomeO! I already had to make a claim not long ago and it definitely made it less stressful on my wallet. Worth looking into i think if you have a puppy or a dog breed that is more prone to getting sick....

Anyone else have experience, comments, advice, questions, concerns, about pet insurnace or companies they are with?

My friend is using VPI for her dog. This company was highly recommended to her.

Two of my three are on PetPlan; the third is too old for coverage. :P I've not had to make a claim, but I know someone who has had some major claims with them and they have been amazing for her. We have a $250 deductible and then pay 10% after that, 30% if at a specialist or ER. My 24lb dog is $120/yr and my 34lb dog is $135/yr; they are on the accident/illness/injury plan.

There's an independent review site for pet insurance - forget the addy but you could prob find it via google - PetPlan by far had the best rating. I've not heard anything about Trupanion either way, but I've heard that VPI's reimbursement maximums for various procedures are way out of date and I am pretty sure they don't cover hereditary conditions and will exclude conditions that are chronic into another plan year. One of the big reasons I chose PetPlan is because they do cover hereditary conditions and if you pet is diagnosed with something one year, they will continue to cover that condition each year as long as your coverage stays current.

This is a very good site to compare them all - pet insurance review : Pet Insurance Review - comparison of VPI, ASPCA, etc.

i chose trupanion because they do cover conginital and hereditary problems, my claim was approved in a few short days, and they have been extremely helpful with my dog's cancer problem earlier this year. They cover it for the life of the pet which is definitely awesome and a huge money saver.
