Default 1 yr old papillon for adoption

This is pup, a 1 year old(dob:11/01/08) papillon:

most of you know the story, he was being sold cheap as a "good stud dog." in an effort to keep him from creating more milled dogs I grabed him.

He gets along great with other dogs, and is quite the love bug. He's not a big fan of men, but does warm up to them quickly. I've only had him a few days, but he does appear to be housebroken. He does very well in a crate and loves bully sticks.

He has his rabies, but will be neutered, hw tested, and given dhpp before he goes to his new home.

The adoption fee will be $350.

Permission to crosspost.

Gah! I want him! (but I don't really want a second dog...and hubby would kill me!)

He should be easy enough to find a home for. Cute, small, and puppy! Good luck!

is $350 normal?
I was just asking because its $45 here, and that includes everything. but the breed rescues seem to always ask for about $150
Just curious!

In a major metropolitan area, yeah. Most of the rescues here charge $300, but that's only because they get discounts at the vets to do all the surgeries and meds. Often times, they lose money on the animals that they have to make up through fundraising.

The $45 dogs at town shelters cost a LOT more than that. You just don't see it bc the rest is paid for by tax payers dollars. Most shelters also only adopt out with a rabies vaccine, some also neuter/spay. Unless you pay extra, I've yet to see a town shelter provide more than that. And, most have volunteer vet staff so their only vet expenses are the wholesale cost of supplies.

Rescues and private adoptions do not have the luxury of tax payer's money. And in most cases, they have to pay full retail prices for EVERYTHING. So yes, without the free money and cheap care given by the state or town government, you would have to pay higher fees.

Even with this adoption fee, I will be taking a loss when all is said and done.

XP had to pay out a lot for this dog to begin with, there is no way she can even be breaking even in this deal.... and honestly 350 is nothing for a dog here... a purebred, young, healthy puppy like "pup-pup" (gah!) could easily fetch 600 here.
