I'm so very sorry Smkie. I know how much you and your family adore Mary. This is going to hurt a lot, I know. But I think you're so strong to be doing this before she suffers a lot more pain. It is really such a blessing to be able to do this for dogs when they're having a rough time. My peace be with you and your family. And may the memories hold you up and keep you going and keep Mary with you in spirit.

I want to thank everyone that voted for her so I could get the Joint Rescue and to BP for her help that made it possible for Mary to have more. I think it really made a difference. I was amazed that so many people felt about her the way that they did. ANd GRammy for making her welcome in her home so I could share my good old dog with the mods here. (((HUGS))) for making her trip special. THat was our two vacations together! Zoom for being a part of her family.
Your tender words help. I am going to tell Hyia this afternoon after her piano lesson. I will keep her out of school in the morning and let her spend time with her. I think i will let her pick out the whipped cream and pay for it if she wants from her penny fairy money. THat way she can feel she did something nice. I ordered a photo for her. One of mary stretching her head toward's Hyia's hand and they sat together in our favorite place in the woods. That is all I know to do to help Hyia.

I think that sounds like a really nice gesture for Hyia. It's so good of you to think of her like that. You can maybe let her make a special little memorial with pretty rocks and moss or whatever there is, in her favorite place in the woods too...someplace where you two can go and remember good times. You are making this difficult time the best that you can. That is admirable. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts.

Oh Smkie, I'm just so sorry! Mary is definitely a dog who seems like she would live forever, and should. What a great dog she is and I can't believe how much she will be remembered for. She was definitely a dog that embodied "best friend" for everyone she met, it seems.

Hugs for you and Hyia and the rest of the dogs tomorrow.

SHe finds out she gets the woods AND treats. THis is her treat look

I can't believe how fast she got herself down there.

This is one of her favorite creeks. WE took these three days ago.
CAtching her breath after making up a very steep hill
One i couldn't walk up if i tried.

A different creek taken day before yesterday. SHe and I went alone, and i let her lead the way. GAve her as long as she wanted. We sat on our favorite spot and I told her what was going to happen and made a prayer for her son to meet her and take her across the bridge.

THe cliff she scared me to death because i didn't know if she was going to step off it or not..you can see the path that does go down. AFter that I walked on the other side. She might not have, but she sure made me nervous.

WE have to work hard to keep up with her. FOr an old girl she can blaze a trail.
