I'm glad someone good took in the cat and I hope the jerk that lost and didn't look for him doesn't try to get the poor kitty back from an obviously loving home.

The people did try, the poster says that they saw a poster months later for him at a laundromat, but they were too attached to give him back.

I'm guessing they put it up shortly after he was lost and the person who found him just didn't see it until then, because I don't see why they'd wait for months and then decide to look.

Either way it's a nice poster.

I think it's great..... One of the worst things must be not knowing what happened to your pet. I think I'd rather know for sure that the animal died than not know what happened to it at all.

It took it to mean he didn't see a poster until months later because that's when the person decided to care.

That said, I've had two dogs go missing and still don't know what happen to them, I hope they're ok and even knowing someone else had them in a loving home would be enough for my peace of mind so it was nice of this person to put up the poster.

I don't know, I guess I'm seeing that poster in a different light

If one of my animals went missing and the person didn't see one of my lost posters till months later I would still want my animal back no if ands or buts about it. I would be glad that s/he was being well cared for but it would still be my pet and I would probably still be rather upset about it loosing him/her. And if the person saw the missing poster and then decided "Oh well, I'm too attached" I would be furious.

I'm sitting here looking at Hamish (kitten) and just thinking that if something like that happened I would be devastated and then to find out that someone knew I was missing him and how to contact me and chose not to? Well I wouldn't be very happy about that and that's putting it mildly

If it truly was a case of the people not caring that's one thing. But even if the poster was new at the laundry mat it could mean that they widened their field of looking, or hadn't thought about putting one in there before, or even that they had initially and it got torn down and they were on their next round of missing posters.

Yes, not knowing is horrible but knowing that someone has him/her and has no intention of giving them back is pretty bad also

I dont know... I guess you never know the situation of someone and it is not really your right to keep something that isnt yours.

My cat was found on the streets and had worms for awhile... I literally had her at the vet every week for awhile and we just really had a hard time getting rid of them... she was malnourished and very skiddish but I was IN LOVE with her... if someone found her they might think she was abused (which she was but NOT MY ME)... I would have been devastated had they kept her... I was doing everything in my power to get her well and had spent a small fortune in the process. Maybe it is an extreme situation, but it is a possibility.

I wouldn't be very happy if this was my animal. The owners were looking for it.

That said, we found Buster in a car park. We didn't take him to the pound. It was a tiny town with one local paper that came out once a week, there was no lost dog notice in there and we did put in a "puppy found" notice plus notice's all over town and tried to find his owner. If you don't even check the one local paper, I don't think your looking, no one ever came forward and we ended up keeping him. He was filthy, covered in fleas and ticks when we found him and its not a good area as far as dog care goes but I still hope that we didn't break anyones heart. I think we probably did the right thing though

I do know that in all future scenarios though dog will go straight to the pound, if you are interested in keeping it put your name down as first choice should noone claim the dog but when your looking for a lost pet the first place you check is the pound.

My boy Hamish has gone through deworming 4 times now and I'm still not convinced he's roundworm free. Worms in kittens can be really persistent and it can very easily not be a mark of a neglectful owner

And I just wanted to add that I do know how hard it would be not to give a animal back you've cared for for months and fallen in love with and I can't say I wouldn't be tempted to do it myself. But that does not make it right
