logan snaped at me!

Today I was siting on the couch with logan and watching t.v. He was in my way so i tried to move his and he growled and snaped at me. i tthink he getting dominant and thinks the couch is his. How can i fix this behaviour?

My first thought is stop allowing him on the couch if that seems to be a source of the problem. Take away privileges and implement a nilif type approach to lay some rules down.

I'd put him off the couch and do not let him up there at anytime you do not want him up their.

I agree with Laur, impliment NILIF immediately. Since the couch is clearly a resource that he likes a lot, only let him lay there when you cue him to, and only cue him to after he's done some good behavior first. For example, he has to sit patiently and wait for the cue; or you can do a few training cues and then let him up as his reward.

I'd also play the "up and off" game - teach him that when you say "up" he needs to jump up on the couch, and when you say "off" he needs to jump down. Use treats and reward both the up and the off, and keep it upbeat and playful so that he has fun jumping up and off. If you practice this a lot,then when you actually need him to get off he will still think it's a game and happily get off (and then you'll reward him!).

I have the same issue with Oakley on my bed...

Rather than provoking it (he improved with NILIF, but would still occasionally snap), I simply make him get off while I adjust myself & then let him back on once I'm all comfy. Sooo basically what lizzybeth said.

This just works best cause everyone is happy in the end...
