I woke up this morning with a sore throad and a stuffy/runny nose
. No fever so far, but I do feel the shrivering & body's aching that normally accompany the flu. Lets hope it's just a seasonal cold and not the H1N1 flu that is spreading like wild fire around here.I haven't had my flu shot yet, because it's not available at my doc's office yet. I should've been more diligent about it and search it out.. but I didn't. and now I'm sick ![]() So, I'd appreciate it if you guys keep me and our baby in your thoughts & prayers. Hopefully it's nothing serious, and will go away on its own in a couple days.

So sorry you are sick! Hope it doesn't last long!
Be sure to stay hydrated. Drink water constantly! I got sick last Feb and started having contractions at 28 weeks due to dehydration, even though I was drinking at ton, with the fever it apparently wasn't enough. |

Talk to your OB. Currently they're recommending Tamiflu in pregnant women even though it hasn't been fully tested (since clinical trials can't really be run on pregnant women), but no adverse events have been reported in pregnant women. The sooner you start Tamiflu, if this is the flu, the faster it will work.
If you don't feel comfortable taking Tamiflu, just make sure to drink plenty of fluids, get plenty of rest, and if you develop a fever, then keep it under control. We've been seeing a lot of positive flu A in patients without fever. |

Should I check myself into the hospital to find out if I really do have the flu? Two of my good friends are nurses there, and they both told me to avoid hospitals at all costs, as they're packed with H1N1 patients.
I don't want to run the risk of contracting it while there, but I don't want to run the risk of not knowing for sure either. What should I do?

I would not risk going to the hospital but you should probably give your OB a call.

Definitely call, but no I wouldn't go to the hospital either. Hopefully it's not H1N1, but many pregnant women have gotten it and both them and their babies have been fine. I hope you feel better soon
