They just diagnosed me over the phone though...don't want to bring anyone with flu like sx into the office to help stop the spread...
Its stupid though cause I'm not allowed to go anywhere, and I just really don't feel that bad. I had a pretty bad headache & have been sweating like a pig (hehe...maybe thats why its called the swine flu???) cause of hot flashes/chills...but other than that, I just really don't feel all that bad. My biggest sx is my fever of 101.5 (which is totally normal once I take tylenol) Anyways, i was just wondering if anyone else has gotten it & experienced such mild symptoms...

well they don't want you to stay in cause you feel bad lol... they want you to stay in so you don't spread it... but that ESPECIALLY sucks when you don't feel so bad.
but I don't know about the symptoms as I haven't had it *knock on wood*

phone diagnosis huh?
Just FYI, in any given year only about 20% of flu like illnesses are caused by a flu virus. You have an 80% likelihood that it is some other bacT or virus causing the symptoms. This year is no different. |

I wouldn't argue at all with staying home, however it does make me skeptical when they're making a specific diagnosis on symptoms alone. There are other illnesses that cause the same symptoms, as well as other flus besides the h1n1. I've also heard first hand accounts of people whose tests have come back negative for the virus being told that it must be swine flu..the tests must just be wrong. I hope that these "results" aren't being counted towards the statistics.
Do definitely stay home and keep your germs there, though, whatever they are

agred, here you have even mild "flu like" symptoms and its swine flu, stay home...
which is ridiculous, my sisters school has 22 kids out...all of them diagnosed with "swine flu" yet not one of them is a confirmed case...however 2 more kids get flu like symptoms and the schools out for 12-14 days! this is some huge hoopla, personally i think if theres risk of swine flu, yes it makes sense to stay home... but to tell you over the phone "you have H1N1" without anything more than some symptoms (and i wonder how many hypochondriacs in the world have gotten a similar "result") just baffles me. if they belive it to be swine flu there should be some way of getting you the test... all this is going to do is confirm its a pandemic (even though most of the cases are just regular flu or a blown out of proportion virus or even a cold...(or even just kids who want a couple weeks off school!) i REALY hope your feeling better soon, it realy sucks to be sick and home and bored, especially with such mild symptoms... the symptoms for H1N1 are not usually "mild" its suppsedly like a BAD case of the regular flu...and just like with the regular flu its the complications like pneumonia that are the real danger... still flu, swine flu or just a cold... stay home, keep warm, lots of oj/vit c and chicken soup and try and make the most of it... i know what its like though...no money = no gas = i dont leave the house...it SUCKS, sick or not!

That sucks. Well flu in general sucks, so I'm assuming the swine flu does too.
On a side note, I always get a giggle out of using 'sx' for an abbreviation. We use it for surgery so you'll see a patient's chart and it will say 'NPO, having sx in the morning' and naturally you misread it and think "****...cat gets more tail than I do!"

A lot of people have had mild cases of the swine flu. My cousin had it over a month ago and said she only felt real bad for a day or 2.
But the sweating definitely sounds like what my neighbor had. I talked to his wife and she had him quarantined in another room (they have a 2 month old) but she had to keep washing his sheets because he was sweating so much. |
