The way it is performed is they snip the skin on top of the tail then on the bottom. Then they proceed to snap the tail bone with very sharp scissors. Once the tail is cut off, skin is pulled from near the back and from under the tail bone to cover the bone. The skin is then stiched together. The puppies cry for a few minutes then forget about it.

I think its ok if there is a purpose or need for the docking, such as hunting or medical needs. Otherwise, I'm not really against it, but I'm not really for it.

I don't mind it either way. But I think it should be mandatory for those dogs with a fragile tail which easily breaks such as Rottweilers or Boxers-- I don't think they'll mind having a docked tail when they're real little if it means it won't cause them a greater amount of pain in the future.

Once again not all Boxers go through pain with out docked tails Taz has lived 11 years with a full tail and is fine same as Keagen. Also ironic as it is my uncle owns a purebred Rottie named Cujo who has his full tail and it has never caused him pain.

I knew plenty of Rotties without docked tails that lived happy lives and never once split their tails open.

As for me I'm against docking

It's in some breed standards that a tail should be docked and/or ears clipped. But also in some countries it is becoming an illegal operation. Personally I think it should be up to the owner of the dog and that some standards are in need for an update. But I like my boxers the way he looks, someone else might like them with floppy ears and a long skinny tail.

wow, I didn't even know about docking...I would think it's a stupid thing to do just for the looks. But if a dog has a very fragile tail, go ahead!

I prefer the look of a dog when it has it's tail docked. I want mine done when I finally get a pup.

WITH A TAIL!!!

Thankfully Cropping is Illegal in this county, I ABSOLUTELY HATE cropping, it is just soooooooooooo un nessesary!!!

and so is docking, I do not, and will not agree with Docking or Cropping,

Boxers tails are just exactly the same as dalmations, so why dont they just leave them alone like dalmations?

I just wish my boxer still had his tail!!

doesnt make me love him any less though
