Update!!!!

My mom just got home and called me.

He is out of surgery and in good spirits... although I didn't expect any less from him lol.

The surgery went well... he was supposed to go in at 1 but they got the times screwed up so he didn't get in there until after 2.

The doctor came out about 3:30 or 4 to talk to my mom about what happened during the surgery. He said they got in there and started scraping the walls to get the infeciton and he said it was just like Jello. the actual infection just had a jello consistency. it was awful. but they scraped it all out and said he didn't see any signs of Asbetos but they are still going to test for it just in case with the biopsy they did and they are sending some of the actual infection for testing as well.

He had to stay in recovery for a bit as they did put him under for this one which he was VERY happy about. the doctor said he should be out of recovery around 5:30. well I guess they have volunteers working in the waiting room area to notify the families when they can visit and where but their shift ends around 6 so after that there is no one there so you have to call to recovery yourself.

well my mom sat there and waited and waited until about 7:30 and then this other lady called down to check on her mother and while she was on the phone she asked about my step dad since her and my mom had been talking a lot and knew she had been waiting for hours. the nurse said Oh he hasn't been moved... we have no beds available for him so he has to stay in recovery until we can get him in somewhere. WELL how nice of them to let my MOTHER know this. So they said they would come down and get her so she could go see him.

She finally had to elave about 8:30 because their dog is at home and has been alone all day without a pee break. when she left he STILL didn't have a room. yikes.

so hopefully he gets into a room soon so he can rest and get situated with his stuff.

but it went well... he is doing well... he has to stay in for a few days and has two drainage tubes right now.

so HOPEFULLY... after all of this maybe this will be the end of it and they will find out WHAT is causing this and maybe he will finally feel better and be able to function.

yes definitely good news... b ut still no real answers. they are hoping it was just the infection that has been causing his fatigue, weight loss and many other symptoms. but I guess we won't know until the biopsy comes back and he gets back home and back into routine.

He says he feels a lot better already. but he said that when the drained all the fluid last time too. which I'm sure he DOES feel a lot better... but will this allow him to get back to normal? we all hope so.

right now he can't even work or anything. so hopefully now that they got all the infection out it doesn't come back and see if they can't figure out what is causing the infection in the first place.
