I've not been a fan of musicals fcor very long; I started with Les Mis a year and a half ago, then went on to Phantom (haven't actually see it, but listened to it MANY times and many versions), then The Producers and The Drowsy Chaperone.
I found out several months ago that Wicked is not only coming to town here in Wichita, but also to Kansas City. I thought "Oh cool" at the time, then saw the prices and went "**** THAT!" ![]() I never listened to Wicked before last week, but I know one of my online friends was addicted to it last summer when Wicked was in Australia (the city escapes me at the moment...). But last week I listened to the CD...then I listened to it again and again and again. Now I am well and truly obsessed with it, and I'm dying to go lol KC tickets start at $35 plus fees (ends up being around $45). But I'd have to travel 3 hours there and 3 hours back, and seeing as the musical is almost 3 hours, I'd probably have to spend the night in a hotel and board my dog. So it'd be more expensive (though the boarding would be free). Tickets here start at $60. I did find ONE online for tomorrow night's performance for $47, but I have to work tomorrow night >.< I originally decided that even at $35 I couldn't afford it, but that was before I listened to it and then worked 18 hours straight (without even a lunch break!) and the only way I got though it was to tell myself "You can go see wicked if you stay all night!" (I had the option of going home at 10pm, and stayed until 1am at my 2nd job...the extra 3 hours would cover the cost of the KC ticket ). So now I have until the 8th to see it here, and after that I have until the 6th of December to see it in KC. I can't take any days off in December at my 2nd job because mail volume is too high, so I really only have until the end of November. The problem is if I buy a ticket for KC now, with my luck there will be a snow storm and I can't go ![]() So here I am, going crazy because I want to see this musical that I never even bothered listening to until a week ago ![]() Anyone ever go see Wicked? What'd you think? While we're on the topic...what other musicals have you seen? I saw Les Mis 6 months after I got ibsessed with it, and I saw both Producers and Drowsy Chaperone this summer. I still want to see Phantom sometime. Les Mis was the most AWESOME musical ever, even though our Gavroche sucked and was out of tune BOTH times I saw it (it was cheap, I had to see it twice lol). Producers was funny as hell, but Drowsy Chaperone was even better...probably because I identify with The Man in the Chair so much lol

I want to see The Lion King Musical, but a)its expensive, and b)its in new york/las vegas and the tour is no where near me.
But I'm not sure if it'll be as good as with the old cast (rip) Jason Raize, Tsidii Le Loka, and Heather Headley (who's one of my favorite singers now though) My favorite, thus youtube so far...LOVED Jason at the end!! Oh yes, Lion King is one I have GOT to see some day. One of my coworkers went and saw in in Kansas City a while back (Kansas City gets all the good stuff around here lol...I just missed Phantom there too, I found out about it the day after it ended). The Lion King has the most awesome costumes ever.

Don't stress about missing KC productions too much...The Music Hall is actually a fairly crappy set up. I saw "Phantom" there years ago and while I was/am totally in love with that musical, the stage is so small it truncates the productions. KC misses out on a lot of good productions because of that. They've started trying to do some stuff up at the Sprint Center, but that's not really set up properly for musicals either.
I'd save up and go see it in Denver or Chicago or something. Or wait until summer when Starlight opens back up.

I have seen:
Cats Phantom of the Opera Grease Jersey Boys Legally Blonde 9 to 5 42nd Street Some more that I am forgetting... I have a really hard time picking a favorite, I really just love to see shows and they were all really good... 42nd Street and Jersey Boys were probably the best though. |

I GOT TO SEE IT! I GOT TO SEE WICKED! YAYYYYYY!!!! They have drawings 2 hours before each show, and you can get tickets for $25 if they call your name. If they don't you get them for $44. Awesome! I got the $44 ones...back row balcony, but it was still a great seat!
