Default Baxter the Therapy Dog

Not sure if it is posted elsewhere????? I saw it on Facebook, but found it on YouTube as well.......A little clip about a therapy dog named Baxter. It's a 10 tissue video.

WIsh I knew why Baxter can't move.

Victor and I tried to work with Hospice here but with the exception of one they sent us to people who were not responsive to anything. Victor would smell their breath and it was like a dark cloud enveloped him that took hours to lift. WE stopped working with Northcare Hospice for this reason. If it is not enjoyable for Victor I do not want him to do it. I have to wonder what this is like for Baxter.

I don't know why he can't move? It's the first time I have seen him...I'll have to search around for more info.

I know that when our Sadie lost the use of her back legs....we couldn't let her go on. My husband would have carried her through the house for years, but it wasn't fair to her.

Baxter doesn't look like he has use of his front legs either. I think since he is licking licking he is not saddened by the experience like Victor was. Victor's fine with anything else in the nursing home but not the last stage. Maybe that is why BAxter is able to reach them so.

I wonder how this dog can eat and is it fair for him to be used in this way. The woman in the bed had more movement than Baxter did. I guess it's up to each pet parent to decide when it is their dogs time to go. Who are we to judge?

One thing for sure though it is proven that a therapy animal can prolong the life of a person.

I cried like a baby watching this, it is sad but not in a bad way for me I guess. Baxter seems relaxed and happy and who says he is suffering or should be PTS? He still has a love for life that helps others love life and let go!

February, when I had my son 3 months early we were visited by a therapy dog named D. D was a standard poodle and oh so sweet. He would lick my sons fingers and toes but did not go near his face and of course he wanted to cuddle with us. I believe it really did make me so much stronger because my baby boy was hooked up to all these machines...I had to hold him a certain way and my pups couldn't be there. D was such a comfort, I will never forget the joy he brought to me after almost losing my son and almost losing my life.

Smkie, my son pulled through actually, sorry if I didn't explain that better....he is very behind in many things but he is here. I'm thankful for that but we did almost lose him. I had very bad eclampsia and had many seizures that took some time to get under control, it almost cost us both dearly. D was a very big help though when I was down and having a hard time coping.
