Default Alcohol okay to flush ears?

I got this recipe online to clean dog ears.... but have heard mixed reviews on using alcohol.

Personally, I wouldn't use alcohol. It's very drying and injurious to the soft tissue. I have used vinegar and water to swab out the ears (with a cotton ball), but ONLY when the ears aren't irritated. If they are already red, itchy or burny from a yeast infection or whatnot, do not use vinegar. Then you need the Rx for that. But I just buy that ear wash stuff they make. It seems very gentle. And most of the time, I don't use anything...just Q-tips. I don't know any reason to flush, per say....as in dumping a bunch of liquid into the ear canal. Like I say, if there's something seriously wrong...an infection or extreme redness, itching....a vet should be seen.
