Don't you hate that !!
We let Trike in from outside yesterday and his eye was soooo red, glossy, weeping and he would hardly keep it open.. Since this was his EYE we did not want to wait until Monday to get it looked at..So we called our vet and she met us at her office and just walking in the door it was already 140 bucks!! ![]() She looked in his eye and couldn't see anything in it..So she put this dye in his eye and if something was wrong it would turn green...It was pretty cool..LOL Turns out he has 2 nice scratches over his eyeball!! (She said ones deep) Poor guy!! So hes on eye drops 3x a day for 7 days and we have to take him back in 5 days and she will do the dye again to check on it...and she said in the mean time if his eye starts to go white that means its scaring and at that point he will be on more drops to make the scar fade some.. Poor guy!! |

I have amazingly found a vet thanks to zoomer that will meet you on a Sunday morning if you have an emergency. He comes in to care for the patients and if you come at that time he will see you and not charge you a king's ransom.
Sorry about the eye...makes me wince just to think about it.

Yes it is frustrating, I know everyone needs a day off but when you need them, that thought doesnt help.
Our vet wont even come in, we have to go to an ER clinic... which charges through the nose because they know your need their services.. I hope Trike feels better soon. |

We have an emergency number that we can call and arrange to have our vet come to the office at off hours. It does cost extra as iluvdogs said, though.
Sorry Trike is injured. Healing vibes on the way!

Every time Zoe has gotten hurt it's been on a Saturday or Sunday. Sometimes you can wait, but twice we've had to go to the animal ER and it's expensive. But...I'm glad they are there.

Having to be on call all the time is one of the main reasons I didn't become a vet. I totally get being closed on Sundays because of that. The ones I don't get are the vets that don't see patients, period, but yet there are no ER vets in the area - that I can't fathom because it means they are basically endangering the very lives they are trained to save.

We have ER vets in the area... but they charge you $120 just to walk in the door...
Every clinic I can think of has more than 1 vet.... I have no idea why they can't rotate schedules so a vet is there on Sunday for normal office hours(meaning they don't charge you $120 just to walk in the door). It's really not that hard, maybe 1 vet get's Fri/Sat off and the other gets Sun/Mon off...... and if you have more than 2 that makes it even easier!

Closest ER vet is over an hour away. No vets open on Sundays here. Our former vet would sometimes meet us at the clinic for emergencies, such as the first time Cocoa ever had a seizure. But.. nice guy, not so great vet. If an emergency ever happened, he'd be better than nothing I suppose though.l

we have a lot of dog hunters here so most vets will meet you for an emergency.
