Unhappy Great, Truffles has worms now...

Truffles took a poop this morning and his poop was COVERED in round worms.

If I am not mistaken fleas can cause round worms if one is ingested. Is this correct? It would explain why he got worms since we've had this flea infestation.

Luckily, it seems like frontline is working. The first few days after I applied the stuff, he was still covered in fleas, now I cant find one on him. Maybe it took a few days to kick in??

Anyhow, I've got this worm medicine that Breeze sent me awhile back. THANK YOU BREEZE!! But on the label it says not recommended for dogs under 5 pounds. He is 3 pounds. Lovely!!

Is there a medicine I can find for him at his weight? Or should I say to hell with it and go to the vet? lol.

go to the vet.

all the puppies had round worms as well as kenya when I got her, the treatment for the pups was VERY different than for a dog more than 5 pounds.
most likely, its a couple of syringes filled with nasty tasting creamy stuff that you give once a day for 3 days, then the next set of 3 in a week, or something like that to kill off the whole cycle of them gently but effectively

i would definetly say GO TO THE VET. a dog his size, you don't want to take any chances

i would definatly give the vet a call, the only dewormer ive had any luck with is pyrantel payomate...a vet can give you a better idea, with him being so tiny its always best not to take the chances.

I was thinking the vet as well. It be easier and give me piece of mind. I dont want to hurt him by trying to get rid of worms.

He was wormed before he come to me from the breeder, and it was by a vet, of course. So this is definitely something he just got.

He is almost 10 months old.

ingested fleas cause tape worms, not round worms.
tape worms are usually not effected by common wormer. there is a special wormer for tape worms.
you can only get it at the vet, as far as I know. Here it is $17 a pill

Wow, ok. Thanks for letting me know. To me, they looked round. Not flat and wide like a tape worm. I will have to take a closer look next time he poops.

What are round worms caused by?

Sorry, dont know much about these pests.

I'd say vet asap, especially with 2 little kids who kiss and handle Truffles. Good luck.

Well, its more like truffles kisses and cuddles lily. lol. Hes a baby lover.

I'd hate too see one of my human babies pooping out worms.

Trip to the vet is scheduled for tomorrow morning.
