This is horrible! I wish people would stop picking on pit bulls! All the pit bulls I've known were wonderfully sweet dogs. It's freakin' amazing: here in the U.S., it's too dangerous to have a pit bull in Cleveland, but handguns are hunky-dory. Maybe we need a dog version of the NRA lobbying for us.

We are the minority on this issue. Firearms owners are the minority on that issue. People who dont like their doors kicked down so that the police can search the home for a plant that makes you hazy when crushed and burned are a minority on that issue...the list goes on and on but yet we go to the polls and vote for restrictions against our neighbors, well this time they voted against us.

The following is from someone elses writing but Im not sure who.
DEFINITIONS
A Democracy: Three wolves and a sheep voting on dinner.
A Republic: The flock gets to vote for which wolves vote on dinner.
A Constitutional Republic: Voting on dinner is expressly forbidden, and the sheep are armed.
Federal Government: The means by which the sheep will be fooled into voting for a Democracy.
Freedom: Two very hungry wolves looking for dinner and finding a very well-informed and well-armed sheep

Knee-jerk, media driven, paranoid decision. I can't believe this actually passed. Makes me wonder exactly what they'll do when they find out breed bans won't work, press on to save face or admit they're wrong and revamp the legislation? Uh huh, gee.... government..... "admit they're wrong"..... funny.

That's really not a bad idea at all. Look at how much freaking political power the NRA has...we just need to latch on to a Constitutional Amendment that could be interpreted to our needs and, like the pit bull, latch on with ferocious tenacity until we get what we want.

They will do the same thing they did when gun laws fail. They will add more useless laws that do nothing but inconvenience or imprison people who arent creating victims.

The last thing you want is a dog version of the NRA. The NRA has been at the forefront of every anti firearm measure that has ever passed. They preach a good story and collect a lot of money but they compromise. Their idea of sane breed restrictions would be something to the tune of You can have a dog but only sporting versions. No dogs are needed that would bite repeatedly. We can give up the pit bull if you allow us our labradors.

My take on that is the pitbull in the hands of someone who is irresponsible is just as bad as a hand gun in the hands of someone who is irresponsible. I would rather that good people can have a good guard dog to protect themselves from irresponsible people...same holds true for firearms

No the government will say they were right and it is working....well doh, of course there will be less pit bull bites because there will not be any. Will the dog bites stop? No not unless you ban all dogs. There are so many irresponsible owners and that is who should be targeted not the dogs. I have said it many times, I do not like pit bulls, I am very uncomfortable around pit bulls. Do I agree with the ban? Absolutely not, it only makes the innocent suffer and that is not fair at all. I can just imagine the humane societies and pounds across Ontario will be full. These dogs will be detroyed left right and center, because people can't afford to spay/neuter. I called three vets in the Ottawa area this morning just for a price on neutering a 6 month old pit. Guess how much?
1] $550
2]$600
3]$300
Big difference and you can bet it is price hiking because the vets know that people gotta get it done or get rid of their dogs. Hm sounds really fair to me
Maybe we should ban all dogs in public, even those bad service dogs, maybe they will bite someone.

Same thing. Media persuasion of scared people. Of course no one wants to see the similarity because many of the folks here vote to restrict responsible people somewhere else as long as their dogs arent at risk of the hysteria

No I am not scared or hiding from the truth here, in Ontario there are no gun issues. We register our guns and there are no concealed guns allowed, but that is it and no one has a problem with that. We are battling the pit bull ban but gun laws are not an issue here. Maybe someday they will be but right now nope. I don't necessarily believe blaming the media is right either, sure they report the stories but there are a s many other breeds attacking and biting as pit bulls. It is the politicians who targeted the pit bull, more accurately it is the Liberals who have targeted the pit bulls. Sad thing is looking at the polls, 60% of Ontarians approve the ban. Idiots they are brainwashed by the government.
