Default Finn has gotten to the point...

...where his neckruff is so thick that collars just don't show up anymore. How sad. ;__; I won't be spending lots of money on fancy collars anymore, I've had my fun! Only no-nonsense solid colour nylon ones from now on!

... why didn't I get a smooth coat?

Merico, I know that you are joking (right?) but i really dont recommend that for border collies. we shave plenty at work though, and I have not seen any ill effects.

either way, You cannot see collars on my shelties but I am a collar FREAK! So I still get them fancy collars. I think my dogs have 5 collars each.

With Rosey's summer coat you can't see her collar, as it's hidden. Her winter coat is much thinner though and the collar does show. She still gets fancy designed collars no matter the season lol, I know what it looks like, and really, nobody else could care less

Or you could just get wider collars. Maggie's neck ruff covers up 3/4" collars completely, 1" collars peek through at the top of her neck, and 1.5" collars show up nicely.

We could never see Lucy's collars Her fur is too thick and fluffy. I buy collars anyway though! I know they're there!

To me when the hair covers the collar it's time for a rolled collar .
