Default Faith, the two legged dog

I know dogs are incredibly adaptable. I don't know how amazing it is really. They aren't as complicated as we are mentally, so naturally, they're not apt to get bogged down with emotions and give up. They're going to do what they can to survive. They learn to get along when and if they can. In the evolutionary scheme of things, this dog should have died. That's why his mother rejected him.

Do you think it's a "beautiful" story or did the human tampering go too far? I have mixed feelings, I guess. He looks happy enough even though he can't run or do things dogs do. I wonder if he has or will have back or other problems. Or... is this more like exploitation...that he is the object of awe and entertainment for human on lookers? Faith is a symptom of irrational belief and groundless hope. The lesson they're talking about on faith....that's for humans....all for humans.

That dog Is loved. That dog is more then happy.. Faith can do just about anything any other dog can do.

I do not think the owner took this dog in, in hopes of getting publicity. I think this owner took this dog in and they both started to get attention. The owner uses that attention to teach lessons to all people.

I love faiths story. And look at the pictures. She is LOVIN' that extra attention :P

Oh I don't think they saved him for any but honorable and loving reasons...not at all. It's just the outcome....him having to go all over presenting himself for on lookers and noisy crowds. I guess I have a pre concieved idea that dogs should be able to run through the woods, jumping over things, chasing rabbits. And if they can't do that, I feel sorry for them.

Also, I just have to wonder about his back and hips, spending a life time in an unnaturally upright position. The lessons learned by humans is all well and good. But I just don't know if it's always best to go to such extreme measures to save an animal. Like I said, I have mixed feelings I guess. He is loved, to be sure.

There are many Dogs capable of jumping things, runnign thru the woods an chasing rabbits. But lets face it. How many actually do it? The majority of dogs in cities i'll bet never get to do it.. They cant do it if they have no woods.. Many dogs dont even get a walk, or a yard to run in. They are kept in the house or chained in the back yard expecting to be seen and not heard. Sometimes not even seen.. The dog is happy. Look at her. Why not save her? she is otherwise healthy. What if she didnt learn to walk on her back legs? Would you feel differantly if she had wheels on the front instead? She doesnt know that people are exploiting her. All she knows is that she's getting a Sh!tload of attention. And I KNOW she loves it.. Have you seen her on oprah? Her tail goes a mile a minute.

LOL. I had to chuckle at that. I guess you're right Babysmomma. I just get sort of sad when I see that, but that's probably some irrational human thing I'm projecting onto the dog. I hope his hips and back hold up. That does look so unnatural to be upright like that though.

It is a sad state affairs for so many dogs, like you say...chained up with nothing to do, no attention... not even the basic needs. Makes ya wonder why people even have dogs.

No, I didn't see him on Oprah. Darn.

Yea I get yea.. First time I saw him I was saddened and fealt like you did.. Put alot of thought into it since then and realized that the dang dawg is happy so whats the problem? lol... I think my province has to be the worst in all of canada AND the USA for dogs treated unfairly.. Its rediculous the amount of neglect that comes from such a small place.

Something about this has never rubbed me the right way. The dog always just looks very stressed out to me, like he (she?) is never really happy. Maybe it's just that she dislikes having a camera in her face, or maybe I'm seeing things.

Personally what? I need that one little piece of information. LOL.

I know Still and Silent. I have mixed feelings. I think it would terribly difficult to get around like that. Heck, a lot of researchers don't think we're suppose to be upright and that's why we have such lousy backs...a lot of us. The dog is loved, but is that tight hugging we saw in a picture really what dogs love? Going from place to place, making appearances, having all kinds of noisy people making such a fuss....seems a bit over-stimulating to me. But on the other hand. Well.....I often see things a little bit from one angle and a little bit from another.
