Dog bite

Guys i was wandering about this for a while. There isnt realy an other place to find this on the internet than here i looked. I noticed pit bulls and german shepherds lock on when they attack a human. They just use like a gun and ho. They lock on dont let go and pull and rip.

Is their a guard dog that has a diferent fighting style. I was thinking maybe the doberman because of its terrier bloodline. Maybe it bites all over in diferent places. Tell me if u know anything about a speecific breed i didnt mention and how it bites diferently than most breeds.

I've only seen dogs 'lock on' when they have been TRAINED to 'lock on'. GSD's do not have the 'locking jaw' that people say the Pit Bull does.

Dogs that bite and hold on are usually either very dominant and confident, or they have been trained and encouraged to do so. A fear bite is usually one nip or a bunch of bites, since the dog 'chews' on whatever it can get hold of.

ALL dogs have a different 'style'. My Papillon (who I am preparing for schutzhund training. DO NOT LAUGH or you will face the wrath of the SchH papillon) likes to bite, let go, bite somewhere else, let go. My Chow mix Shiner would hold on for dear life on the occasions that she bit another dog or person. (She was not aggressive, mind you, just had her patience pushed way too far)

Dogs trained to guard are supposed to 'lock on' to hold the intruder in place.

I hope you're just wanting to know this information for the heck of knowing it and nothing more...I don't know much about dobermans to be honest with you..but I know pit bulls don't "lock" jaws..no animal has that ability..the only difference with pitties is that they simply have stronger jaw muscles and the will to hold on...their jaws don't magically lock together...and yes..I agree that they do bite and rip...I had a rottie attack Messina once and I recall her grabbing onto the dog's neck and shaking it about..basically..if she kept holding on and I didn't get the dogs apart..she would literally rip a chunk out of that dog...that was a very scary moment for me...not because I was worried for her wellbeing (I knew she wouldn't let that dog touch her the wrong way)..but mainly for the rottie's sake..and for the sake of my dog's breed reputation...even though that rott was the one that actually came at my dog, the animal's owner blamed me..because of course..I had the pit bull..

Anyways...along with some info..there's my little story of the day..lol

yeah i was just wonderign becuz i like guard dogs and i head some of them bite diferently and i thought u guys would know.

My Pit mix was attacked one time by the second biggest G.Shep I have ever seen (The biggest was a female that lived down the block when I was a kid, a huge dog!) while out for a walk one day. The dog was in a pickup truck that was parked on the curb, and it must have been sleeping, as I never saw him until I heard him jump out the cab window after I passed. He ran up to Gus, and grabbed him by the back of the neck and shook him really hard. Gus never was one to get started quickly and took a few bites before he got angry enough to retaliate. As usual, things turned around all of a sudden, he had the side of the GS's face and was shaking the hell out of him, and started slamming him up against the side of the truck. The GS decided it wasn't going well and finally bailed out. Gus was really wanting to go at it at this point, and I had to hld him back. The GS's face was pretty beadly tore up, but he wasn't hurt all that bad. I think Gus was a little worse, at this point. Suddenly, 2 kids and a half dozen adults come running out the front door, and the GS decides it's "backup" for him and attacks again. Gus grabbed the already chewed up cheek on the GS and really went off the deep end and the GS started screaming. Two of the men grabbed the GS, and I grabbed Gus, and it was over.

The one guy shakes his head and says to one of the women, "I told you, he was going to run into the wrong dog one of these days!" Then he asked me if there was a Vet open on Sunday nearby. I sent him to my vet who was still open. The two guys took him to the vet, and I waited a few minutes to let Gus calm down. I ended up taking him to the vet too. All the people workign at the vet's were amazed that Gus was the dog that tore up the GS that badly, as Gus was one of the "sweeties". The people who brought the dog in had told them that "the guy with the other dog" had sent them, but described Gus a much bigger dog than the compact 75 pounds he actually was. I was totally blown away when they said the GS's owner had left 100 bucks to pay for anything my dog needed to have done, since "It was my dog's fault! He got himself tore up, and it's his fault for attacking the other dog, and my fault for leaving him in the truck".

I kind of expected him to blame Gus, I was glad to see someone admit they were at fault. If Gus had looked more "Pit Bullish", it might have been different. Who knows?
