AKC Steeplechase?

Seems the AKC is trying to get in on the popularity of games from other venues. They were trying out USDAA/AAC style steeplechase last weekend..

What are the AKCrs thoughts on the additions of new games?

I think their name for it is dorky as hell.. Can't say I love 'FAST' for AKC's version of gamblers.. But 'RAD - Run and Done' is absolutely horrible. I guess it's to keep them separate from USDAA and the AAC.. but Wow what an awful name.

Having not been involved in agility for several years, I really don't have an opinion on this. I too am interested in hearing what others think.

I'm still waiting for AKC agility people to weigh in. Lot of people I know sort of like having 2-3 (if there is FAST) runs a day and no more.. versus I can have 6 or more if there's 2 rings at the same time in the AAC. Lots of people also don't like change...

Sounds like the AKC is really going full-force to try and make more profit. I was shocked, never having done AKC, to learn that I can do four or five USDAA runs in a day for the price of TWO AKC runs. I'm considering giving AKC a go next year, as that would give me two trials that I can actually go to without needing a hotel, and that my family could come watch. I hadn't heard they were adding a steeplechase though. That does make it more appealing to me.

And yes, the name is absurd.

So the AKC seems to realize 'RAD' is a crappy name for it, so it's already been renamed.. Only their new name isn't any better. 'Time to beat'.. already being called 'T2B'.

Think the AKC needs new gimmicks that aren't from other venues.. I kinda liked the limited class options. Made them unique.
