If anyone is interested, here is the html version of the actual document:

Creating Animal Shelter Guidelines: Selecting Animals for Euthanasia

These guidelines are really kind of loose, and anyone who has worked in a shelter would already know these things and more, and wouldn't need these "guidelines" anyway.

Yes, but some if it is misleading or untrue . . . the breed stuff, and the reptiles jump out. Reptiles do not pose a serious health risk to humans unless the humans in question do not practice good hygine or are prone to putting their pets in their mouths.

This is true. Although if the reptile in question is a 20ft boa constrictor, that could pose a health risk to humans. But in that case I would hope an attempt would be made to find a suitable reptile sanctuary or zoo that was willing to take the animal instead of just outright euthanizing it.

But anyway, I guess the point is they don't really make sense (for example, euthanizing shy animals. Most shy animals turn right around with a little time and patience) and are basically useless.

Except when people follow them . . . I have no doubt there are shelters that would and do.
