Default Poor Lilly just can't get a break...

I'm starting to think the world is out to get poor Lilly! I just took the dogs outside for the first time since 9:30am, because it has been raining all day. So both Cody and Lilly had a lot of pent-up energy. As soon as we got outside, they took off and were chasing each other in circles. It was hilarious! Out of nowhere, this dog runs up to them. It looked just like Todo from The Wizard of Oz. He was being friendly so I just stood there while they all sniffed each other. He had on both a collar and tag. Lilly decided to let out some more of her balled-up energy with this dog, and jumped on him to get him to play with her. He reached back and growled at her, and I think he might have nipped her a bit. Lilly took the hint and ran off crying The dog started off running because I yelled at it, and Cody started chasing him barking(in hindsight I find this funny, it was like he was running after him yelling "Hey! You can't do that to my baby sister!".) So, Cody came back, and the other dog ran away. I picked Lilly up and we went upstairs. I set her down at the top of the stairs as usual. Their feet were wet from the rain. As soon as I opened the door, she darted inside, and the second her feet hit the tile floor, she fell over onto her side and slid like 3 feet, lol! She got right back up and actually wanted to play, so it didn't hurt her. Poor baby must think everyone and everything is against her!

BTW~ We encountered this same dog 2 nights ago. He came out of nowhere at 11pm. He played with Lilly and Cody for a few minutes, and when I realized that there was no owner coming for him, I bent down on my knees and made noises to try and get him to come to me so I could read his tag and call his owners. As soon as I did he ran off. Cody started following him, but he has great recall so he came right back. The dog ran through the fence and into the street(a street almost no one drives down). I saw 3 people the next night out in the street with flash lights, presumably looking for him. By the time I got downstairs they had gotten into a truck and driven off. Hopefully we'll run into him again so I can get him back to his owners. Poor boy was soaking wet and muddy today from the day's rain

Awww poor Lilly... I'm glad she wasn't hurt again. And poor lost Toto! I hope his owners find him. Bet they're worried sick.

Ditto here !!! I hate when I see a stray and can't " capture " to check ownership .

I guess he doesn't realize he's not in Kansas anymore. Good luck catching him. Hope you get him before the flying monkeys find him

I absolutely adore Cairn terriers, I rescued one many years ago, she was so shy no one knew I even had a dog for a year. She would hide under the couch or behind my chair until the kids and hubby went to bed, then she'd come out to play with me. My son got a Cocker Spaniel and the world opened up for her. Brandy and Sugar became the best of friends and played together all the time. People would ask me when I got two dogs...LOL.
