Eye problem and itching
This afternoon when i got home from work I noticed Hank blinking one eye. I flushed it and looked in it with a light and couldnt find anything unusual. His eye is red and he is keeping it closed. It is also watering pretty bad.
In the last couple days it seems like he has been scratching quite a bit and when I looked him over I noticed very tiny red bumps on his underside on his thighs and under arms. They seem like tiny scabs. Any ideas?

sounds like it could be an allergic reaction to something.. I'd get him checked by a vet though

the eye needs to be seen by a vet sooner rather than later. eye problems can turn really ugly really quickly if you don't get them treated appropriately.

I think it is a reaction to the weeds out here and I think he had something stuck in his eye. I noticed the little scabs were only where he could reach so I think he cut the tops off of the little bumps. Now that it is cooler the bumps are gone.
His eye is open normally and not watering anymore. It is still slightly red. If it isnt normal tomorrow Ill get him looked at monday.

His eye is still a little puffy and not open as far as the other. I tried to get him in today but it looks like the soonest I can get him in is wednsday.

You might try flushing it periodically with a sterile eye wash. He probably did just get some chaff in there, along with pollens that are irritating it. If he's scratched the cornea, the wash will help clean it out so it can heal.
Tallulah gets those red bumps when she goes through high grass, especially if there's still dew on it. If it doesn't go away in an hour or so, I've given her a benadryl and it clears up and she feels MUCH happier.

I think I will flush it a bit more. I have only let him out on exposed dirt areas today and the bumps are gone. I think the weeds are the problem possibly for both issues. Hank doesnt even come close to having the ground clearance for the weeds out here. He has to hop to see over it. Im sure he has been scraping his undercarriage

You need a hydraulic lift kit for Hanky. Not sure if they make them to fit him, but you could use one for a Golden and modify it without too much trouble

I always check my dogs's eyes if they have been running in tall grass. THe seeds tend to drop down and line the inner lower lid. YOu catch it quick enough there will be no irritation. ONe well aimed splash of water will wash them right out of there.
