Grooming for a golden?

How to groom well collie and golden retrievers...? are they part of the high maintainance pets? i mean these are my favorite breed of dogs...

They look great when their feet , panties and tails are trimmed slightly . I've never shaved !

Well Jasper ended up having some matting on his back legs and belly and tail...so I scissored (and poorly I might add, I'm not good with scissors) all that hair down short so it was easily combed.

I'm still honestly considering clipping him down next week, he's cooking in the heat even in the house (no AC) and some of the hair I just can't pick through even with a shedding comb, regular brush, and a wide toothed comb.

Take him in to a groomer. If the hair is that thickm, and hard to get throuh, he probably has a ton of feaf hair in there. Let them blow it out and get all the dead hair out, that will be causing why he is so hot.
