WE all start at some point. The best thing about drawing is each time you work your skill level is based on the piece before. I epsecially like the expression on the second one. Your drawings show personality and that is important.
 I think looking at some pictures of dog skeletons might help you get a feel for how the body is put together. HEre is a good example. Skeleton of a dogKeep up the good work!

WHEn i was learning to draw my father told me to remember "crooked as a dog's hind leg" and for some reason that helped me. HOpe you come back and share more! IF i can help in anyway i would be glad to.

It's a good start and you've definitely got the body shape correct. Smkie is right, being able to visualize an animal skeletally does help, looking forward to seeing more.

These are very mod and cool! Thicken the lines and add some color or go black and white pen and ink and I think these babies might sell. I am not a big fan of realism though, so many people do realism, it's refreshing to see someone else who stylizes their art
Here's one of my sealie drawings:  So you can see what I mean by stylized/abstract/folksy. Yours kind of remind me of Erte. He had the tall elegant ladies walking the tall elegant dogs.

Art is subjective. There are no rules to speak of. Some of the most successful artists didn't follow the rules and started their own genres. I really think unschooled art is so refreshing, when one gets all this education, they start to look like everyone else's. I had to unschool myself. I had lost my joy in my art and when I dug out a box of my old art from when I was 4 and 5 years old, and just studied them and went back to that simplicity, I became more successful and started to enjoy my work again. To quote Picasso "every child is an artist, the trick is to remain one as an adult."

Well I forgot to complement Stage Dragon on his/her(?) posted drawing.
P.S They were sort of freehand, but I was mostly drawing based on outlines in various photos off of Google.
