WOw your coming along nicely. Very nice work! Fur is very tricky and yours really looks like fur. You have it going in the right direction and i feel some depth. What are you using to draw with? For fur i like to use an o3 lead so i can get the lightest of lights and then i switch to and 05 or an 07 for my darkest darks. I have a hard time with smudging because to me it has a dirty appearance. Instead for the lightest of shading i use my o3 and go in very light circles so get a gradiated shadow.

Thanks
![]() Mainly, I just use whatever pencils are nearby. The colored pencils weren't anything special, just what I got from a craft store. Of the two actual "drawing" pencils that I've been using (honestly can't remember if I used them for the bottom pic), one is labeled "Design - drawing 3800 09107 HB" and the other is labeled "Design - Ebony". Obviously, the Ebony one gives the darker tones. But I don't know too much about specific drawing tools. I'd love any advice you have! |

YOu might try some water color derwents some time. Use them only in the dark areas and take a brush and lightly lift the color for your midrange. I think it is something you would do very well with.

No..they aren't darker. THey work like regular colored pencils. You can just take a brush that is wetted with a little bit of water and pick up the color byt starting with the area you have colored and brush it out giving you a very nice gradiated stroke. Leaving your white areas only as your pure highlights.
better price Derwent Watercolor Pencils some examples Berry Patch Surprise if i read this right this artist uses them on watercolor paper that has been dampened. HEre is some really nice work done with them. Original Watercolor Details YOu get a really nice depth with this medium that is hard to achieve with pencil alone.

Really nice work! I especially like the first one - it's got a lot of great texture to it.
