Swelling a week later

Last week Pit suffered a ruptured anal gland abscess. We went to the vet and got it fixed up and they sent us home with 7 days worth of antibiotics. Up until yesterday, it was healing well, but today (day 8) it has swelled up a decent amount and looks bruised. He's been wearing a cone since we left the vet, so he hasn't been licking.

I don't suppose it's normal for an almost healed wound to swell up so late?

The vets are closed now and I'd like to avoid another e-vet bill if I can. Should I wait and see if it goes away or should I take him in tomorrow?
