Milton acting like Penny is in season?
Milton is aggravating the snot out of Penny. He is behaving like she is in season, which is impossible. She was in heat in March. Towards the middle/end of March. She is going through a pseudo pregnancy, with some breast enlargement.
Along with his puzzling behavior, she has been humping, mounting, etc as well. Everything else appears to be normal. No discharge. Eating well. Acting fine. Anyone?

well of course he is, he is a young male.
 But this behavior is typical of a male around a bitch in season. Lots of whining, licking, sniffing, courting, with play bowing, flank licking, etc.

I would think a pseudo pregnancy would have hormone changes involved - IDK though really, but if it does, it could be the odor of changes in her hormone levels that he's thinking are an invitation.

We had a female that would act like she was pregnant about the right time after her heat cycles....she often ended up nesting with a leash (who knows what the attraction to that was...) and would get swollen teats etc too. Was worse the one time when we had another pregnant bitch, but seemed to happen almost every heat cycle.

Been through that -- first with Buffy and Bimmer, later with Kharma and Bimmer. It's almost comical at times, to see Bimmer's tentative approaches to Kharma. He's quite experienced with the vagaries and whims of a Fila bitch with PMS so he doesn't take a lot of chances.

She has a FP after every season. She is not bad with them, just usually some noticeable breast enlargement.
What I am worried about is a possible infection. OR it could be a silent split heat. Which would be par for the course since I want to breed her in August.

I was going to mention split heat. Venus had one--the second part came about the same time she would have been dropping puppies if she had been bred. That was followed by an infection (ultrasound showed no pyo). It was quite an introduction to life with an intact bitch.
It wouldn't hurt to have a swab checked and white count run. If no infection shows up, at least you'll be able to stop worrying about it.
