I could not, would not, buy from a breeder I don't agree with.
Personal preference. I looked at breeders first. I didn't even land on tollers, my significant other at the time took a list of what were my "requirements" for a breeder and thus found a breed. Have I actually experienced the breed yet? Nope. Do I still plan to go that route? Most of the time

I'm kind of experiencing this with my Labrador search. I love Labs. I am having a hard time finding a breeder I love. There are quite a few I like, but not that "perfect" one.
I'm also considering a Chessie. (Briefly looked at Curlies, and may still consider one, but I just can't get over the way their coat looks. Petty, I know.) I've had much better luck finding Chessie breeders that fit what I want than Lab breeders. And in all honesty, I'll probably end up with a Chessie because of that.
