A good client of ours at work found a gorgeous, handsome black Chow/Samoyed mix and couldn't keep him, so she was looking to place him. He would have been PERFECT for Mike's mom. She's said off and on she's wanted another big spitzy dog, not only for companionship, but also for protection. Mike has been looking around for one that would be a good fit, to hopefully help her out with her mental issues. So I contacted Mike, who is down with his mom currently, to see if she would want this dog. It would have been an awesome match.
But she doesn't want him. Which is really frustrating, because when she is in her good mental state she wants a dog, it is just when she is having issues with her depression she feels like she isn't worthy to even have a dog...and I really think this boy would have helped lift up her spirits and give her a happy thing to come home to in the evenings, and he would have done an awesome job of being a watchful, protective presence.
*sigh* It is hard to help someone when they don't want to, or can't, help themselves.
