I know it is a question about cats but I feel it will get more attention here and i trust you guys more than people at the cat forum I go to (no offense to those who post there). I want to start feeding the cats wet (not entirely, too expensive) and am thinking about Merrick. Is it safe? I know there is a bit of controversy over it but there are so many flavors i think I'll be able to find one they like.

I would NOT feed Merrick nor would I give any of their bullys chews etc.
We've discussed this on a few threads- quality of ingredients is hugely suspect. The company owns a rendering plant.

i actually have and do and like to use merrick, my dogs and cat like their foods (both dry and wet) and their families rendering plant they dont use the "left over" meats in their pet food plant, however they do use the beef tendons from their rendering plant to make their bullysticks and their rendering plant is also where they get some of their other "leftovers" for chews (ie pig ears, hooves, knuckle bones ect). (while some still and always will belive they do use scrap meat in their food...)

as for "safe" none of their graines are imported so yes, it is "safe and NOT on the recall list, nor should it ever be thanks to the fact they dont use imported grains.

it is one of the few dry/wet foods i still trust.
our cat LOVES the canned food. the dogs only like the grammies pot pie in the dry and about 4 of the many wet foods.

Evangers is suposed to be one of the best canned foods. I haven't tried the cta foods. I have just started feeding some of their canned foods for dogs this year and am amazed at how great they look and smell. My dogs love it.

I went to the Evangers site and remembered it's the food that has menadione in it. The three types if you click on the right hand foods do not have it but all the ones in the left side do. Here is the site http://www.evangersdogfood.com/cat/

These are the ones without it http://www.evangersdogfood.com/cat/gourmet.html

But all these have it http://www.evangersdogfood.com/cat/superpremium.html

So should i worry about that. I'll try to find the ones without it but have a hunch that will be a bit harder than finding the others.
