Valentines Cards for chained dogs

I was listening to the lastest broadcast of Animal Radio networks weekly show, and they interviewed Tammy Grimes. On the web site that I am enclosing the link for, there is a Valentines Day Project. They are expecting 8,000 or more people to create Valentines greeting cards that will be sent to the guardians of the dogs seen chained up all day long and sometimes all night, outside the home. For example, I have a neighbor that had their dog chained up last night, and it was pouring rain and the temperature was about 38 degrees F. The dog had no shelter and that to me is animal abuse. They said in the program that many of these dogs are outside even during cold winters, and never allowed in the house. They live in a 15 foot radius circle their entire lives, which is the length of the chain they are on.

Anyway, what they need on this site is addresses of the location where these dogs are spotted. They will then send a card to that address, pleading with the owner of the dog to unchain it, and take it inside. They said some of the best cards that they get are created by young children......

Here is a chained up puppy that was left outside as an example of what they are trying to stop http://dogsdeservebetter.com/Hi_res/DSCF0023.JPG

And a Husky in a pen http://dogsdeservebetter.com/Hi_res/misc4 005.jpg

And another.... http://dogsdeservebetter.com/Hi_res/100_4324.JPG

Breaks my heart to see that.....

If you go to Tammy's web site she has letters that you can print out to give to people that have chained dogs. They are very nice and try to educate people about chaining. They also have area reps that will help those in need to help with fencing or other alternatives to chaining. :)

very nice site Bob, it breaks my heart too. Luckily for the dogs in my neighborhood, most owners have fenced yards. I have not seen a chained dog for awhile.
But what about the ones that are left out in the cold all the time, a very close neighbor has a big yellow lab that never gets to leave their privacy fence :( I saw the dog one time last summer go for one walk.............and we are out night and day in the summer! Now that it is snowing I hear him whining alot! I feel so bad for him. Are these dogs included in the Valentine list too?? Not sure if this counts as "penned"

I would have them send one anyway. That's horrible to treat an animal that way....
