Melatonin?

Does anyone have any experience using melatonin for easing separation anxiety while of course working on behaviour modification?

My recently aquired 19 month GSP won't let me out of his site at any moment.
I heard that melatonin can be used in dogs to curb anxiety without much of the sleepiness of other RX meds.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

There is a good Yahoo group that deals exclusively with Separation Anxiety. My dog also used to have it, but he's almost completely cured due to tips from the site:
