There was a warning today about someone on one of the breeder's lists here. Someone called claiming to be from the city, and that they had a stray dog come in to a vet clinic and then animal control that had a microchip that traced them back to that breeder. They said the dog was a mix, which didn't sound right to the breeder (it's a good list, no mixed breeds).

The caller then said they needed to know what dogs the breeder had, and what their microchip numbers were, so they could confirm the city's information about the person. They of course got wondering and then asked for the person's name and number, at which point the person hung up. It was a blocked call.

They called both the vet clinic mentioned and the city and found out it was a scam, scary stuff.

My dogs aren't anything special, but I still worry that somebody might steal them. I hear a lot of dog theft stories.
