can you belive that Ruckus STILL isnt completly house broken? he will go for EVER without going in the house and then all of a sudden he decides its a good idea.
today he peed on the BED!!! i am discouraged but i know he will get it someday. we dont crate him for night time or rarely when we leave somewhere and he has no accidents. but like i said, maybe once a month he thinks he should go in the house. this is twice in one month.

any idea why he is doing this? or is it just because! i know some dog take longer to train but this doesnt seem right!

How old is your dog?

If it were my dog, I would stop giving him opportunities for failure. It's much kinder to set the dog up for success.

Crate him when you are gone or unable to supervise. Don't have expectations that are too high. Help the dog by putting him in a position to be successful.

I don't expect dogs to be completely reliable in the house without crates until after 2 years of age.

I am no specialist in this area, He could be doing this to get your attention! What is your reaction when he acts out?

Our dog has been house-broken since he was 4 months old. Still, he's had a single-digit number of accidents since we "declared him" potty trained.

We leave him in the house unsupervised for 4 to 5 hours at a time and he is completely accident free. We've traveled with him and he's refused to go, so we know he can hold it for 10 hours or more if he can't find a good spot. He's technically a miniature/toy breed, too!

However, we just had an accident on Friday. Our friend's dog was over and they were playing like crazy for 3 hours. They drank so much water and we made sure to take them out after an hour. Then, we watched a movie and let them play. As everyone was leaving, Herschel peed in the middle of the living room.

I'm not entirely sure he had to go to the bathroom. He could have wanted attention or been marking. Either way, it's our fault for not taking him out more often.

With Ruckus, keep doing what you're doing and follow Red's advice. Don't give him a chance to have an accident. If he has one, then it's because YOU decided to leave him unsupervised, not because he decided to go to the bathroom.

thanks for the advice. i just got the sims pets and have been playing the heck out of it. i really think he did it to get back at me, or for attention. i will start leashing him too me when i play it, or crate him. and of course i dont spend all day playing it, i still spend plenty of time with him.

perhaps he really is jealous?

no, he's not jealous. He's just a puppy who's not certain about housetraining yet.
