Using my fingers to count to get the answer to my random question.....
You guys make me happy to be in the itty bitty committee :rofl1:
Yesterday a child threw a chair at me, it hit my ankle and it was instant bruise. The director handled it, wrote it up for the parent. Then the parent comes in and signs the write up, and flips out on me like it was my fault her child threw a chair
i tried to explain to her that the burst of anger was so unexpected I didn't even have a chance to move out of the way. And also the child was having behavior issues with the morning teacher before I even came in (and I go in at 8!)
I wake up this morning. My ankle is really swollen and very painful, I have an unavoidable limp.
So my vent is a very broad vent. Seems like a lot of parents right now are not setting guidelines for their children, and allow them to behave in ways that have always been socially unacceptable . And when there are consequences, helicopter parents swoop in and prevent any lessons from being learned. This is resulting in children behaving in extreme ways that are dangerous. Last week we got an e-mail from the local school distract that a former child of ours has been suspended at school for a really serious accusation - something a 6 year would should NOT even think to do to another child. One can understand how children grow up and do things like we've been seeing on the news lately.... We can refer families for help (counseling and such), but no one can force the parents to follow through with it. It's sad, and scary. What is this world coming to?
