Grrr, Nicho has fleas.

I've never dealt with fleas before...so what do you do?
I'm not sure where he got them, but I'm pretty sure he got them where we take him to go pee and stuff, since a lot of dogs go there. It sucks because he's a black dog and I have no way of like, actually seeing the fleas. He has been scratching a lot though. Apparently my mom gave him a flea preventative thing, she got the Hartz brand, which I heard a while back wasn't good? :/
Other than that, what else do you do when your dog has fleas?
And what do we do to the carpet and the rest of the house? I'm sure we must have them in the carpet, PLUS my mom lets Nicho sleep on her bed...so I am sure there are fleas on that too. :/

All three of my dogs have fleas right now, but at least my dog is white so I can pick the fleas out.

I made a thread about fleas a few days back and I was suggested to use dish soap. I have not tried it yet. The tropical and the shampoos stuff usually is pretty toxic so I try and stay away from that.

Wash everything. Vaccum the carpets to the best of your ability and wash the floors.
