I just read an article published in Better Homes & Gardens' June issue:
Toxic to dogs:
Sugarless gum: Contains xylitol, a sugar alcohol that can cause blood sugar to drop rapidly
Macadamia nuts: contain a compound that may leave a dog with temporary paralysis in his hind legs. Dogs will recover from this with no treatment and no long-term effect.
They also said no to:
Onions: damages blood cells and can cause anemia; 1 small onion can be fatal
Raisins: can cause fomiting, diarrhea and kidney failure
Chocolate: may cause excitement, increased urination, muscle tremors, seizures and rapid heart rate
