What is in your dog Shampoo. An explanation of what some of those ingredients are.

Please note, I am not a chemist. I am not responsible if this information is incorrect or incomplete. I may be responsible for typing errors though. In the presense of a manufactorers name I have added ** in place of the name so as not to promote any company.

De-ionized Water- Free of metal content and calcium. Helps to blend other ingredients to product.

Surfactant - Surface-active agent reduces the surface tension of a liquid, allows easier spreading between two liquids. Surfactants are usually organic compounds. The surfactant used in the shampoo is direived from plants. Surfactants are usually Amphipathic meaning they contain both hydrophobic groups and hydrophilic groups. The hydrophobic group reacts on the skin oils, fatty deposits, and greasy substances. The hydrophilic group description means a substance that "likes water". This group also helps to spread the shampoo product and to lift the dirt from the skin and hair shaft. Because the hydrophilic portion of the surfactant is the "water liking" portion of the compound, it provides for faster and complete rinsing.

Soap Free- Contains no potassium salts or potassium hydroxide, contains no renders animal fat (sodium tallowate.)

** uses primary surfactants - Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Ammonium Laureth Sulfate

Secondary Surfactant
Cocamidopropyl Betaine- Very mild co-surfactant, good cleanser, foam booster, anti-static agent, and conditioning agent.

Cocamid MEA- Made from coconut oils. Stabilizes foam and conditions the skin.
