No issues with Brooks' digestive system today! I was a little frightened coming in the door.

I fasted him last night and this morning, so he's pretty certain he's dying.

I'm officially all caught up on homework for this week and basically caught up on housework. Celebrating with some Jack Daniels and How I Met Your Mother. :D

Also, I get to sleep in tomorrow. FTW.

Totally random but....

I used to make soap and other body care items (lotions, bath salts, bath bombs, scrubs, lip balms, etc). I had planned on opening a business selling them (Green Magick Herbals) but never got around to getting it going before deciding to have children and go that route instead. So this is was a good 10-12 years ago that I started.

Well, one of my very first soaps was a failure, i thought. It never set up properly in the PVC pipe mold I was using. I decided at the time to give it a couple weeks to see if it helped. Time passed, I forgot....we moved, moved th soap in the mold, and again, it got pushed into a corner and forgotten. We got married, we had kids, life went on. Recently I have been really wanting to start making soap again. I went through my old supplies to see what was still good and found the mold. Last night DH and I got brave and opened it back up.

The top looked a mess....figured it never did set up. I was going to just throw it away but DH didnt want to "waste" the pipe. He decided to just wash it out. Well, after the first inch or two it was soap! It had worked lol. We unmolded it the rest of the way, sliced it, and now its curing to get hard and milder....and this soap is at LEAST a decade old!!!

I dont remember what kind it is lol...think some kind of oatmeal milk and honey with chocolate (It smells really chocolatey). It is not very pretty lol but DH was very happy to be able to shower with homemade soap again last night:)

The 21st-3rd of Dec/Jan, Michael will be home. :) Which means the wedding will be happening December 22nd. :D

But, I'm also sad. That's 7 weeks away. And then he's gone again for 16 more weeks. I miss him. So ready for this to be over, and we're only a third of the way done with just this initial phase. *cries*
I'm also bummed, because I had hoped to go see him over Thanksgiving...but he has two watch duties and won't be free the majority of the time. Bleh. I may rediscuss it with him and see if we can work something out...but doubt it.

I went snowboarding for the first time yesterday and I DIDN'T DIE! I even made it halfway down the huge run before my legs just gave out and wouldn't do any more. All in all I'd been on the board for about 3-4 hours, so I say it was a pretty good first day. I can't wait to go back!

Also, I found out that I can do 100mph in my XT that is packed with gear, through the mountains and keep up with my buddy who has a WRX and drives like an @ss. :rofl1:

One of our pharmacists has two dogs and has asked if I'd be willing to watch after them when he's gone. He has a Sheltie and a Golden. Hell yeah I'll watch your fluffy dogs!

He always praises the Sheltie.... he says "Never again" to more Goldens. :p

Two weeks ago, Hannah had her appt with asthma and allergy specialist. She is now on a preventative inhaler that works like magic. They also retested for allergies and her egg allergy didn't show up.

So today we are doing an egg challenege where they feed her eggs in increasing doses and monitor her for symptoms. We are on the last step of the test and no reaction so far and she really likes the eggs :)

I just started Cynder on Metocloprimide...and so far, it seems to be helping. If it continues to do what I think it is doing, I think we've finally found a routine that will work for us to keep her from feeling nauseous and regurging.

Right now we are at 3/4 can twice daily, with Metocloprimide three times a day, Famotidine twice daily, and Sucralfate when I can remember and have time to give it to her before/after meals. Since starting this routine yesterday, we haven't had any issues. *knock on wood*

Just ordered some high calorie supplements, and they should be here by next week. I'm currently spiking both of her feedings with a tablespoon or so of Nutrical (so, about an extra 60 calories per meal) to make up for the extra 1/3-1/2 can I'm not feeding her due to regurge issues. When my supplement gets here, I'll be mixing in that with one or both feedings instead, and she'll get some Nutrical smeared on the inside of a hollow bone when she's crated to a.) give her a reward for going in the crate and b.) provide a higher calorie snack. I also ordered some Nutrical chewables, as she tolerates small chewable treats fairly well and then when I treat her, it has some oomph behind it and will mean something.

Considering Sunday I was almost in tears because she couldn't keep any food down, was extremely nauseous, regurgitated even when I was holding her up vertically, and aspirated when she regurgigated food at 3am after having eaten five hours before...I think we're starting to look up. *crosses fingers*

She is turning into the most expensive, time consuming dog ever. But she's worth it.

Now I just hope that I started her on antibiotics soon enough after she aspirated to avoid any kind of pneumonia setting in...so far so good, but I'm super paranoid.
