Heartworm question...

Slowly kill them off over a two week (or so) period with small doses of ivermectin.

We require the dog to be hospitalized so we can control the activity levels but I don't think it's a global mandate, just something we do.

I've treated three foster Goldens and it was over a 3 week period . Luckily Golden Rescue paid for it and my vet gave me a % off ...... still each was about $800. The hard thing is no activity during this time so the dead worm don't block in the lungs . All went through successfully ......but believe me it's cheaper and to be tested once a year and do monthly prevenitive !!!
