Ilsa had her lumps aspirated today, and... just Ilsa grease, as expected! Looks like they're benign, which is a great thing and a load off my shoulders. I was so worried they were something worse, but as usual Ilsa got me all worked up over nothing.

Also, my vet is only going to charge $110 for Ronin's neuter this fall... yippee! They're going to leave the scrotum though... of how I hate the empty dangly scrotum! But, I'm saving more than $200 leaving it to be reabsorbed, as my vet back home was willing to take it off but was going to charge me $385 for the whole shebang.

So, those of you who have had adult males neutered... how long does it take for that icky sack to reabsorb?

PS - photos will be up sometime tonight from the dog park romp. No Django pics this time around, as the Des Moines dog park was "closed for maintenance". I think that means "we need to clean up all the poo you irresponsible dog owners left in our park, you big idiots!".

Yay Ilsa! Has she recovered from the indignity yet?

When we had Simon, I don't think he ever totally lost his manpurse entirely. There wasn't MUCH there though. Is there anything else you need to have done to him while he is under?

You, ahem, KIND of got pics of Django today... ;)

LOL @ "manpurse"...

Glad Ilsa was just being worrisome and nothing more! Those lumps do tend to raise your heart rate regardless, don't they?

Sizzle, Middie has taken six months and has shrunk a LOT. I doubt it'll completely go away, but it's just a little flap.

Yikes, that long? I don't mean to be lewd here, but... Ronin's... um, his are pretty big. I'm worried that he'll have an icky little flappy there forever!

You're not being lewd, and yes, there can always be a very small flap of skin left.. I've seen old males who still have.. hanging bits. (Now whose the lewd one? LOL) But then again he was pretty freakishly well-endowed, too, so Ronin's will probably be the same.

I'm worrying the same thing about Zaphod, Leah. He's... extremely well-endowed.

When I had Ripley neutered, it took about 6 months for him to lose the manpurse entirely. I wish I remember how long it took Buddy, he was a big big boy.

I'm feeling lucky that either Sawyer's hair covered things up until he reabsorbed or else they just clipped off the manpurse and I never had to deal with it anyway.

Yeah, tell me about it... one of my mind-in-the-gutter friends (who, incidentally, owns Ronin's brother Jackson) exclaimed - very loudly - at a show once that if Ronin couldn't finish, I could always get him into the porn industry.

*sigh*

Heh. The guy I'm dating can't see Zaphod roll over without making a lewd comment or two. I must admit it's rather pornographic...

Ozzy's been about three months now and that little flap STILL hasn't gone away, and he well, not to embarrass him, but he was NOT well endowed, lol. :D I'm hoping another three or so will see it gone.

The length of time to reabsorb the "manpurse" (I guess we are calling it that now? ;)) really varies from dog to dog. Benji's took a few months, but I've seen some dogs at rescue take 6 months or more. But the average is probably 3 months (from what I've seen at rescue). When we got our chessie neutered years and years ago, he didn't have a manpurse left over.

ACK! Testicles on anything freak me out. I am SOOO not a testicle person. GAH.

I am glad that Ilsa's lumps turned out to be benign. She's such a beauty!

I'd rather see a flap on a boy dog than dangling testicles.
