Happy 1st birthday Maurice!
Boy, it's hard to believe Maurice, (Maurry, Micky, Meecie, Maurisku, Smidgen) has been here for almost a year....got him at 8 weeks of age. Time really flies.
He's shown some remarkable changes, actually, rather lately...over the last couple months. For some time, I was a little concerned about how bonded we'd become. He was quite aloof for a while, more interested in doing his own thing, less interested in interacting with me...although, he did. It wasn't like he was completely absent, but it was as if he weren't quite altogether there. He was responsive in some situations and very much so when I picked him out. But as time has gone by and he's had lots of one on one with me, he is maturing into a lovely, affectionate, responsive little fella. He seeks me out, makes big time eye contact and wags his tail furiously when I speak to him. He puts his little front feet up on my legs to get my attention. He's paying a lot more attention when we work together on things. And he loves to be held in my lap...actually always did like that. And he's become very playful and interactive with me, not just Matisse.
I guess he just needed to grow up a tad and work into the routine here. He's always been healthy and sturdy for his size since the day he was born and a real go getter when it comes to playing with other dogs...not one bit shy or reserved in that respect. In fact, he is very sociable with anyone, loves the kids in the neighborhood and is not a bit hesitant about anything. I can't mow the lawn with him outside because he will go right up close to the mower to check it out rather than stay away a little bit. He's fearless, which really isn't necessarily all that good of a thing.
So at one year old, my wee one, Maurice is proving to be a delightful little darling.
So for his special day he will get to go to a special place for an outing...and have a really fun time. Plus, a special dinner tonight.
Here is his first day here:
You can see how small he was next to Jose` who's just 10 lbs. He makes Jose` look huge. lol. Maurice is still very small...about 4 lbs I'm guessing...haven't weighed or measured his height lately.
