Hello to All..I just joined this forum tonight. I recently stayed in Tuba City, Arizona..please read the following account of what I observed. I would've brought the female dog mentioned home with me (if I could've gotten her), but I was traveling by Amtrak back to Georgia and only service dogs can go on the train. I have ten animals...al rescue, stray or shelter animals. Please, I hope someone knows someone somewhere that can help the dogs I am describing below. If you know of someone, please, please let them know. We must help these dogs and any others in the area...--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please help..for the last two nights I have stayed at a motel in Tuba
City, Arizona. I am actually from Georgia, and I support your efforts to
save animals. I am on vacation visiting some of the western states. I
called your number earlier tonight and left a message stating I would be
sending a follow-up email. Tonight around 8:00 I observed a man who
worked here rolling a dog in a pen out and put the dog beside the
trashcan. I inquired as to what he was doing with the dog and he said
someone was coming to pick up the dog later..I asked when, and he didn't
know. He mumbled something about animal control. It was after eight
o'clock. I told him he couldn't just leave a dog in that cage with no
water or food not knowing when they would come. He said I'd have to talk
to the man at the front desk. I went to the front to see him. I could
tell immediately that he was giving me the run around. I asked him when
someone was coming for the dogs (they had two dogs in two different
cages), and he didn't know either. He said the man was in there earlier
in the day. I asked his name, phone number and this man at the desk said
he didn't know. By now it was close to 9:00 P.M. and I figured they'd
leave the dogs out there until morning, when animal control was working
again, without food or water. There was also a female dog in the parking
lot earlier. Her ribs were showing. My friend and I gave her what we had
left over from supper and she ate it all. She looked as if she were
nursing puppies. She was light tan with a white face, ears flopped a
little. Her eyes were a lighter color. I also noticed she had a cut on
her left back foot. She seemed real skitish when I offered her the food,
so I imagine they are trapping dogs all the time around this motel. They
may have gotten her tonight as well, and we think she has puppies
somewhere. I'm worried about that as well.
Something was also said about Window Rock, AZ.... that animal control
would come from there. I don't know how far that is, and the dogs will be
without food or water until someone comes. I overheard also something
about the dogs being put to sleep. I don't think it's a humane shelter,
and certainly not a NO-KILL shelter. These dogs deserve better than this.
First and foremost it is inhumane and unacceptable how they are trapping
these dogs and keeping them in cages until someone from "wherever" decides
to come pick them up. I then wonder if they even have a chance to be
placed. I don't know if the other two dogs were male or female, but they
were pretty good-sized dogs, medium to large. The female dog that was
obviously nursing pups would be about the same size dog, but she was
undernorished. If she is caged, what will happen to her pups? They would
need to be found as well.
I looked on the map and I see you are fairly close to Tuba City, could you
PLEASE, please send someone to help these dogs? If animal control got
them they could be in Window Rock if that's actally where
animal control comes from. All three dogs would be very nice looking dogs
if they were being cared for popertly, I think they would be very
adoptable if they were given a chance. I know you do such a good work,
please immediately send someone to take them to your haven there. ALSO
please contact whomever to investigate this motel and how they are
handling trapping these dogs. It is not right. I didn't know what else
to do but to contact you. I called the police station here and felt like
they gave me the run around as well.
Please, please help..thank you for all you do to protect God's precious
creatures. All they need is someone to love them.. I will list the
motel's location. I am leaving to drive back toward Colorado tomorrow.
Thank you,
