I have NEVER seen a puppy like Shiva . . . ever . . . and it's all Charley's fault for naming her "Shiva!" :D

I will have to hand it to her though, she never, ever destroyed a single thing of mine - never chewed up a shoe, bra, nothing . . . She carried stuff of mine around to sleep with it, but never once tore any of it up :)

Ours don't have "regular" names that can be looked up. Gunner's Mate is a rate in the U.S. Navy - Black Tear of Cheyene is a combination of her color = Black...trail of tears = Tear of....Cheneyenne, WY = Cheyene (- an "N").

TITAN

1. Greek Mythology. One of a family of giants, the children of Uranus and Gaea, who sought to rule heaven and were overthrown and supplanted by the family of Zeus.
2. titan One of prodigious size, strength, or achievement: “the twin titans of the beverage industry” (David Barboza).
3. The largest satellite of Saturn and the 11th in distance from the planet. It is the second largest satellite in the solar system.

KISMET

In English, the word is synonymous with "Fate" or "Destiny".

The word Kismet is often used alongside the word "happenstance" to set up a dichotomy between those things that are fated to be, and those that happen purely through random, chance occurrences. For example, "After Bob broke his leg in an accident and met the pretty nurse that would later become his wife, he didn't know whether to thank Kismet or Happenstance. All he knew was that after many dark years, his world had become a brighter place again."

EVE

Gender: Feminine

Usage: English, French, Biblical

Pronounced: EEV (English), EV (French) [key]
From the Hebrew name חַוָּה (Chavvah), which was derived from the Hebrew word חוה (chavah) "to breathe" or the related word חיה (chayah) "to live". According to the Old Testament Book of Genesis Eve and Adam were the first humans. She gave the forbidden fruit to Adam, causing their expulsion from the Garden of Eden.

ILSA
Gender: feminine
Root: Elizabeth
Origin: German
Meaning: Oath of God
Famous Ilsas: There was one in Indiana Jones, and apparently there was a porno movie with the main "character" being a Nazi SS girl named Ilsa.... whoops. I swear, I had no idea the name Ilsa was that of a porno character... and a pretty famous porno at that!

RONIN (Understand that Ronin is not named after the samurai, but after an opera singer... but I somehow got the spelling wrong on the singer's name, so everyone thinks Ronin is named after the samurai. Besides, no one knows who Ronan Tynan is! ;)
Gender: masculine
Root: none
Origin: Japan OR Celtic*
Meaning: a samurai who had renounced his clan or who had been discharged or ostracized and had become a wanderer without a lord; an outcast; an outlaw. OR.... the Irish spelling means: a pledge, or a "little seal"
Famous Ronin/Ronans: Ronan Tynan (an opera singer), Ronan Keaning (also a singer.... he was/is in Boyzone, apparently), a King of Leinster who was deceived by his second wife into killing his first son.

WINSTON:
Gender: Masculine

Usage: English

Pronounced: WIN-stun [key]

From a surname derived from an English place name, which was in turn derived from the Old English given name Wynnstan meaning "joy stone". A famous bearer was Winston Churchill, the British prime minister during World War II. This name was also borne by the fictional Winston Smith, the protagonist in George Orwell's novel '1984'.
----------

MORGAN :
Gender: Masculine & Feminine

Usage: Welsh, English

Pronounced: MOR-gan [key]

From the Old Welsh masculine name Morcant, which was possibly derived from Welsh mor "sea" and cant "circle". As a (possibly unrelated) feminine name it was used by Geoffrey of Monmouth for the Arthurian sorceress Morgan le Fay.
----------
TIA:
Gender: Feminine

Usage: English

Pronounced: TEE-a [key]

Short form of names ending with tia. It also means "aunt" in Spanish or Portuguese.

According to a few other sites, Tia also means Princess...whcih describes her perfectly.
----------
TANGO
Tango doesn't have a meaning, as obviously its not classed as a human name...lol. All I can find is that it was/is a dance, which most, if not all of us already know.

"Tai" I got off of a sushi menu. It means "red snapper," and was perfect for a little red puppy with a penchant for nipping ankles.

"Kimi" means "noble" or "unequaled." While we are STILL working on the noble part- one thing is for sure, this girl is unequaled...she is by all means an alpha bitch.

There was one in Indiana Jones
I LOVE "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade." The Ilsa character is fabulous- a great Doberman name!

Zeus:
The principal god of the Greek pantheon, ruler of the heavens, and father of other gods and mortal heroes.

Zeus is usually such a dignified dog with a lot of presence. Sweet and loving, but knows the world is his oyster.

Voodoo:
-A religion practiced chiefly in Caribbean countries, especially Haiti, syncretized from Roman Catholic ritual elements and the animism and magic of slaves from West Africa, in which a supreme God rules a large pantheon of local and tutelary deities, deified ancestors, and saints, who communicate with believers in dreams, trances, and ritual possessions. Also called vodoun.

-A charm, fetish, spell, or curse holding magic power for adherents of voodoo.

-A practitioner, priest, or priestess of voodoo.

-Deceptive or delusive nonsense.

That name is SO fitting for my Louisiana chaos demon.

Frodo- Derived from the Germanic element frod "wise". This was the name of the hobbit hero in 'The Lord of the Rings' by J. R. R. Tolkien, who used Old English to translate some hobbit names (Frodo's real name was Maura). In the novel Frodo Baggins was the bearer of the One Ring on the quest to destroy it in Mount Doom.

Izzy- Spanish meaning Concecrated to God

Mollie-Hebrew meaning The Perfect One

ROXANA (Roxy)
Gender: Feminine

Usage: English, Spanish, Romanian

Pronounced: rahk-SAN-a (English), rawk-SAHN-ah (Spanish) [key]

Latin form of a Persian name meaning "dawn". This was the name of the wife of Alexander the Great.

HADES
Gender: Masculine

Usage: Greek Mythology (Latinized)

Pronounced: HAY-deez [key]

From Greek ‘Αιδης (Haides), derived from αιδης (aides) meaning "unseen". In Greek mythology Hades was the dark god of the underworld, which was also called Hades. His brother was Zeus and his wife was Persephone.

I knew that about Hades, but I didn't know that Zeus was his brother!

Oh I know! I love the Indiana Jones movies, it's actually where I got Ilsa's name in the first place. Ilsa loves it too - in the movie, Indy yells, "Ilsa! Ilsa don't go!" and Ilsa always runs to the TV and cocks her head, then sits down and watches th emovie for about 2-3 minutes.
