My mum has a newfie. We got it as a rescue. He is a lovely dog but before we got him he was chained outside for 3 years so although housetrained he is not very confortable in the house. He hadn't alot of socialisation with other dogs and when he came none of the dogs liked him. But he has a lovely temperment and was easily housetrained.

Babymomma - I too LOVE Newfies! I guess you can say I have a HUGE obsession with them. Whenever I see one, I corner the owner and get as much Newfie time as possible. Pictures would be great!

I have always loved Newfies! My grandfather worked on a boat that had two resident Newfies That actually did what they were bred to do! :D He used to tell me stories about them./ And Being In newfoundland they are a pretty popular breed around here.. Well I should say, they were.. I barely see any Newfs around anymore.. They used to be everywhere.. There are posters and old pictures Plastered all around the malls and stuff here.

I fell in love with them a few years ago, one of my friends on another forum has a couple and I always loved seeing pictures of them. It wasn't until a couple weeks ago that I actually met one in person and I LOVED him. That same day I went ahead and figured out which breeder I'd like to get one from in the future lol.

I dont know much about them. but Blaze plays with one who is 180ishlbs. Koda is MASSIVE, Blaze loves playing with him, as he isnt as agile and is alot slower lol. But every time Blaze is done playing with him, it looks like he just got abath, as Koda drolls TONS all over blaze, its nasty lol But worth it as they both love each others company, nothing a quick swim in the river wont fix lol

Newfies are great. I spent about 6 months in Maine a couple years back helping to train Lifeguard Newfies at a lake. The couple had been raising them for water rescue work for like, 30 years. But the couple was getting older and they had some Newfie pups who needed training, so they recruited me and some friends to help train. They're really bright dogs, and by the end of the 6 months they could swim out and bring poor little me back to shore at rapid speed.

I don't have pictures, but the two I mainly worked with looked kind of like these:

(the one on the left looks almost identical to one of them)
