Last night Feist had taken Wesley's bone and hopped on his bed to chew it. After staring at her looking very disturbed for a bit, he picked up an empty soda bottle, played around with it some, and when he got her attention flung it in her general direction. Feist pounced onto the soda bottle, Wesley happily climbed on his bed to chew his bone. Smart boy.

Taking Cynder to the vet today...she's still all drooly/coughing/hacking/lip licking. When I fed her last night she ate, but then vomited up all of the food an hour later, and she's been coughing up spittle almost nonstop. She's kept down water, though. She's still acting like her normal self, besides being a bit more touchy with Abrams than normal.

So vibes for the Daddy's Girl dog that it isn't anything serious? She got into the trash on Friday and Saturday (Friday was my bad, Saturday was because even after I fortified the trashcan she was still able to tip it over...so now she's gated in the bedroom when I'm gone), so there is a myriad of things she could have ingested that did something. Although why it took two or three days to show any symptoms, I'm not sure. There isn't anything she could have had recently that would make her nauseous...

Choosing a registered name for Rider is hard work.

I know I want it to be "_______ Riding West"

I don't know what I want in front of it. Rimrock's doesn't work because it's technically a kennel name. Boo.

Hannah (my parents dog) is at the vet. She was all bloated (not bloat bloated, just bloated), panting but otherwise acting normal. Not pooping and when she does it was little bit of liquid.

I got a text from my sister who is there with her and they are doing XRays, they think she has fluid in her abdomen.

This dog has been with me since high school and is my dads life. It will crush him if it's bad. So, any vibes appreciated!

They still don't know what's causing it but her abdomen is full of fluid. They took blood work and we're calling back tonight to talk to them.

They said it could be a tumor that's leaking or other types of cancer, it could be the intestines leaking, it could be liver disease and so on. Lots of could be's, very few not bad. They said the vet didn't sound very optimistic.

My poor dad is beside himself. We all love this dog but she's his heart dog. His voice keeps breaking when he's talking about what the vet said.

Can you do anything with your last name (forward or backward)? Anything you particularly like that might have a fun translation in another language?

This website: http://www.fionalake.com.au/other-info/other-references/rural-words/cow-words has a bunch of different words for cow in different languages.

I like a "kennel name" of sorts to make sure the dog won't be "Riding West VXII" or something like that.

:( I hope they can figure it out. Do you have any specialists locally to consult with that don't require a long wait?

OMG so sorry Linds :( I hope it's nothing serious and she has an easy recovery. Lots of vibes. Lots of love to you and your fam! Seeing your dad cry (or be near tears) is the worst.

Interesting translations! Would you mind if I stole your idea and did a "kennel name" with the rescue name after? I still don't know if it would be accepted, but I like "Rimrock's HErD Riding West" or something of the sort.

Lots of vibes. (((hugs))) I hope everything works out okay.

Luckily, nothing obvious has been found wrong with Cynder. She has some gas in her intestines, but it isn't patterened like an obstruction, and no other real abnormalities were noted. (Did discover that she has beautiful hips and was spayed with steel sutures. Lol) Nothing is wrong with her teeth/mouth and nothing obvious stuck in her throat.
She's been able to keep a small amount of canned food down this afternoon, which is great, although she is still just pouring out drool. We're just going to start her on cerenia and pepcid and hope the symptoms resolve after a day or two. I hope so...this dog needs to be fit and healthy or her daddy will never forgive himself.

Thanks for all the vibes and thoughts guys!

Honestly I don't know if we do but I do know that we can't afford to spend the money it would probably require to go to one. They just dropped 400 dollars at the vet between the xray and the bloodwork.

She's also an almost 11 year old large dog and I just can't see pouring thousands of dollars into it right now. I know it sounds callous, but between Kaylee's bone cancer and now this it's just not viable.

Hopefully though when we talk to the vet tonight things will be a little more conclusive and we can come up with a plan of action.

Fingers crossed it works itself out. I almost hate that "Well, we don't know" more than them knowing. Hopefully though it all resolves itself!

Me, too.

We offered her a little bit more of canned food...and she upchucked everything the exact same as it went down. So no oral meds for her, unfortunately. We gave her the injectable versions, but I haven't seen a difference yet. She's still drooly, and now if anything she is more depressed. This morning she was running around and playing, tonight she's hiding under my desk so Abrams can't get to her. She's still keeping water down, though, so I am thankful for that (do NOT want to worry about her getting dehydrated) and we're going to fast her tonight and tomorrow morning to see if that makes a difference.
If tomorrow morning she's still urpy/drooly/unable to keep food down when offered we'll have to do further diagnostics. We should also have the specialist's opinion of her radiographs back in the morning, so we'll see if they agree that nothing looked wrong.

*sigh* Last week was physically exhausting and drug on forever, this week just SUCKS.
