Sophisticated research on the genetics of naturally ocurring cancer in dogs

This is research represents a big shift in cancer research for dogs and humans. Dogs are becoming a focus for modeling human cancer since they are very close to us genetically. I like this type of research because it does not involve inducing cancer in lab animals artificially. Humans don't get cancer that way, and neither do pet dogs so it makes more sense to study the real thing scientifically and it is more humane. They will also be using cancer treatment trial data more from dogs for a model of human treatments. Once again, the dogs in these studies will be pets that have acquired cancer naturally and need treatment of some kind.

This study focused on Golden Retrievers.
