Is there a preferred medication to use? My vet uses heart guard--are there others that are better/worse? We are due for vet care--updates on vaccines. Baxter was initially vaccinated by the shelter--so this will be our first vet visit for him. Any suggestions?

i use interceptor right now. i don't have a strong preference. heartgard should not be used with collie breeds as they can be sensitive to the main ingredient, ivermectin.

I use Interceptor because I have an Aussie, a breed prone to the same problems with ivermectin as collie breeds.

thanks for the responses--Baxter is a mixed breed--but I doubt that he has any collie in him!
